2008 SACCM Champion of Champions

One of the up and coming talents in Country Music and a name to remember is 18 year old Kristal Collins whom hails from the beautiful township of Mount Compass S.A. This young lady has achieved heights that most say is outstanding for her tender age. Highlights have included accompanying multi award winner, Mr Trev Warner on his latest Album  “Old Country Home”. Winning Songwriting sponsored by APRA and Female Vocal  (2008), Junior Champion of Champions, Junior Entertainer of the year and achieving runner-up for the Award of Excellence, were among the numerous inspiring awards that she has received since 2006.

Recently being the successful applicant to receiving the Cindy Shelton Scholarship to attend the Tamworth Camerata College (awarded by SACCM thankyou). This will give Kristal the opportunity to work with well known, professional artists and musicians in the field.

Kristal has been fortunate to collaborate with Mr Wally Sparrow on the subject of compering, to Nationwide credited and respected Artists.  Collaborating also with Australia’s most respected Artists and Bands. ie. Blue Grass Junction, Trev Warner, Pete Jenkins and band, Brendan Beleski, Greg Bunnett, Hamish and Lachlan Davidson (Davidson Brothers) Steve Forde and Kristy Cox, Tracy Coster, Anthony Stewart, The Sherrahs, Alison Hams and Mark Tempany, Wild Card, Heartland, Midnight Mountain Blue and Stepping Back, Roller Coaster as well as many local talented Bands.

Kristal began performing in public at the age of 12 years, since singing non-stop for her own enjoyment as a child while listening and singing along with Patsy Cline, Enya, Lee Kernaghan, Charlie pride and many other country music artists. Her exceptionally bright and bubbly personality has won her many admirers and friends on and off stage and her dazzling smile is remembered by all. Kristal has a down to earth personality which keeps her feet firmly placed on the ground. Brilliant vocals, vibrant and luminous stage presence. This becomes infectious and leaves her audiences wanting more.

Heading through 2008 will see the continuance, dedication and strong commitment to grow and gain further experience to become a professional and recognized performer/songwriter/compere and musician.2008 will also be an important and special year for Kristal as she has various bookings in South Australia and as well as to perform Interstate to broaden her bright horizons.

Kristal covers a range of Country Pop, Rock and Ballad music. Kristal's talents include vocals, performing, backing Vocals, playing the Guitar, Bass and Mandolin. Discovering a passion for song writing from listening to others experiences in life, learning, having thoughts and various experiences of one’s self to generate feelings of warmth, love, heartfelt fun and laughter to entertain all generations. Recently writing her own material and co- written songs with talented musician friends.

Many shows performed around S.A include McLeod’s daughter’s farewell concert backing by Midnight Mountain Blue (heartfelt thank you), The Woolshed on Hindley, The Gov, The Promethium, Country Music Clubs, Agricultural Events/shows, The Bush Bash, Lake Charlegrark, Blanchetown campout, and many Private functions,

Proudly supporting and performing at many Fundraising events such as Relay for life, Royal Society for the blind, Cancer Council, People with disabilities, World Harmony day, Royal Flying Doctor service, SIDS and International women’s day.

Education  information

Kristal attended Reynella East Kindy , then proceeding to the Woodcroft Primary School where also attending many public choir performances over the time ie at The Adelaide Festival Theatre etc. Secondary School being Mitcham girls High School. Currently attending Tertiary And Further Education studying music Cert 111 and Cert 4 in Sound and Recording. Recently returning again to Leanne Hoad studio’s for further Vocal coaching.
