Pam is the Mother of Sarah Griffin, there are some pictures of Pam on Sarah's page. Starting music late after attending a concert in 94 and deciding "music is my thing", Pam moved into country music two years later when she joined "Just Country" and then "Twin Rivers" as a guitarist. A stint as a sound engineer followed plus her first introduction to Festival Organisation when with Sweetwater band Pam ran the first "Sweetwater 2000" festival in Tanunda and then went on to play guitar and act as manager for "Sweetwater." When daughter Sarah followed Mom into Music Pam gave up full time band work to ferry her daughter to festivals, performances and then to Camerata College in Tamworth. But the music marched on and since then Pam has been on the committee for her local Country Music Club, put on local concerts and initiated and implemented the youth country music workshops in Gawler. An award winning songwriter Pam has her songs recorded by independent artists and continues her passion for words with her release last year of her poetry book "Dust in my Eyes" With her two children now independent and able to drive themselves to their gigs and festivals, Pam has a solo career and is now singing, playing and recording her originals herself. Comedy is her forte and the local country music followers enjoy her "for the deaf" version of Running Bear. Pam continues to support and encourage other artists and runs the open mike country music session twice a month at the Prince Albert Hotel in Murray Street Gawler. (2nd and 4th Saturdays 1-5pm) Slightly crazy at all times but passionate about country music, in particular local artists and fiercely loyal to South Australia and what we have to offer here Pam will not admit to her age except first thing in the morning after an especially long music gig the night before. Pam also works regularly in old folks homes and for charity. Pam can be contacted at Gawler East on (08) 8523 1921 |
